There is nothing like giving a handmade gift! Join us this fall as we explore the world of crochet and create several smaller projects perfect for holiday gifting. Projects will be adaptable to different skill levels and will include new projects from last year’s courses for returning students.
All skill levels are welcome! This class is open to beginners, those needing a refresher, intermediate students, and anyone eager to share crochet skills with others, whether it's a friend, sibling, or youth in their lives!
We will cover all the basics, including the tools needed, how to choose the right yarn, and how to start and finish a project. Students will learn six crochet stitches: chain, slip, single, double, treble, and half double, as well as how to read a pattern.
All supplies are included in the course fee, including tools and yarn. We will make 2-5 projects. Students are encouraged to work on their projects between classes.
Location: ARTS HUB - First United Methodist Church Waupaca, 720 Demarest Ave, Waupaca, WI 54981
(No refunds will be offered within two weeks of the first-class date.)

Instructor Rachel Bailey
While Rachel’s degree is in archaeology, she has spent most of her career teaching various programs and classes on topics ranging from local history, scrapbooking, and crafting to scouting badge programs, girls in science workshops, and summer camps.
She is passionate about the arts and sciences and about providing educational opportunities for people of all ages, particularly our youth. Her parents were teachers, and she credits them for shaping her approach to things as an adult. They taught her the value of being a lifelong learner and to never stop learning new things.
Rachel learned firsthand how participation in the arts provides children and teens with a means of self-expression, allows them to build a sense of community, and reinforces lessons taught in the academic classroom. She plays the French Horn and Bass Guitar (thanks to lessons at the Hub) and enjoys singing Alto. Rachel enjoys a variety of creative endeavors including sewing, making costumes, doing cross-stitch, crocheting, knitting, and writing too!
