In this hands-on workshop, you will create The Baker’s Basket – a functional piece featuring a woven, filled base and sturdy design. You will learn basic basket weaving - how to prepare your material, measuring, marking, start stop weaving with a simple rim and lashing. Step-by-step instructions will be provided by Barbara. Tools are provided to use. Beginners are welcome. You will leave with a basket made by you. Basket making is wet work, so wear some old clothes and bring a small old hand towel.

Instructor Barbara Johnson

In 1998 Barbara wove her first basket and was instantly hooked. Since then, she has continually advanced her skills by attending basket weaving conferences and belonging to a basketry guild.

Teaching basket weaving has become a passion, specializing in practical, functional reed baskets. Barbara loves weaving baskets and helping others learn the art. It is her goal when she teaches her classes, that the people in her class leave with a finished basket that they are proud of and have a great time learning about basket weaving.
