Classes and Programs
We offer a variety of classes and programs designed to grow our students’ creativity!
Creativity comes in many forms, and we seek to offer a varied list of opportunities for children, teens, and adults in our community throughout the year.
Whether it is painting or drawing, pottery, sewing or knitting, cooking, acting, STEAM or creating digital art, our experienced instructors will guide students through these enjoyable educational programs, enriching the lives of those who take them.

In this class, you will create a watercolor fall-themed pumpkin painting. The final painting will be framed and ready for you to decorate your home or give as a gift. All supplies will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own.
This project is for all skill levels. Join us as we explore watercolor basics. We will work with blending colors, wet on wet, wet on dry, and creating your own creative style. Two instructors will be available to help you throughout the class

Perfect for beginners and returning students! In this wheel-throwing class, you’ll learn how to center clay, build bowls and mugs, and add volume to your forms. We’ll also cover trimming, glazing, and what happens during the firing process. 5 open studio hours included with class to work on your skills on your own. Have some experience already? Feel free to use this as open studio time and get tips from the instructor as needed. All supplies included.

Play with color using pastels in their many luxurious forms!
We will use soft pastels, pastel pencils, and hard pastels to experiment and create bold and delicate effects. Everyone will be able to discover their own particular preferences. Everyone will receive individual instruction in DRAWING and COLOR techniques that lead to a fun and easy path to their own style of expression. Images for inspiration and reference will be provided.

This relaxed, beginner-friendly class introduces the fundamentals of hand-building with clay. Participants will learn core techniques such as pinch, coil, and slab construction while creating functional and decorative pieces. The class also covers basic surface design, proper joining, and an overview of the firing process.
No prior experience is necessary just an interest in learning, creating, and enjoying time working with clay. 5 open studio hours included with class to work on your skills on your own. Dress up your next party with custom wine glass charms! In this class, students will learn to cut and layer fusible glass into charms for marking stemmed glassware. No experience necessary, but closed-toe shoes are required. Students can expect to make 6 charms in this class. Jewelry hardware will be attached by staff before project pick-up.

A beginner class for someone who has always wanted to try making jewelry! Participants will learn how to string a necklace and finish it with a clasp. They will also learn to create matching dangle earrings. Participants will choose pre-designed jewelry sets to fully create for themselves. All levels of experience are welcome.

Do you enjoy listening to stories from The Moth? Or attending Waupaca Story Project? Maybe you want to get into writing your memoir or journaling about your own life stories? This class will help you learn how to identify a strong personal story worth telling, how to shape it into a format for sharing, and how to share it in front of others. Though participants will not be forced to share their story or part of it in front of others, full participation is encouraged.

Create Your Own Clay Pumpkins!
Interested in working with clay? This is a great introductory class for all skill levels!
In this one-session class, you’ll learn the basics of hand-building with clay, including creating slabs, adding texture, and attaching pieces. Our instructor will guide you through the process as you create two unique pumpkins. Perfect for decorating your home this fall!
Come ready to get a little dirty, have some fun, and enjoy plenty of laughs. We love creating in a relaxed and welcoming environment!
Your finished pieces will be ready for pickup in approximately 3–4 weeks, just in time for Halloween and fall decorating. We’ll email you when your pieces are ready!

In this hands-on workshop, you will create Hazel’s Windowsill Basket, a functional piece featuring a wood base. You will learn basic basket weaving: how to prepare your material, measuring, marking, and start-stop weaving with a simple rim and lashing. Step-by-step instructions will be provided by Barbara. Tools are provided to use. Beginners are welcome. You will leave with a basket made by you. Basket making is wet work, so wear some old clothes and bring a small old hand towel.

Join us for a spooky, specialized glass fusing class at the Hub! In this session, students will learn basic candleworking, a fused glass technique; using thin strings of glass and tea lights, we’ll swirl, bend, and twist shapes perfect for cauldron steam, gnarled trees, and jack-o-lantern smiles. Students will also have the option to add hanging hardware to their piece. No experience necessary, but closed-toe shoes required.

Create two beautiful 7 oz. soy candles in this fun, hands-on workshop! You'll learn the basics of candle making while choosing two different fragrances to create a unique scent for each candle. Your finished candles feature natural soy wax and wood wicks for a cozy ambiance. By the end of class, you'll take home two handcrafted candles, perfect to enjoy yourself or give as gifts.

Fourth through Sixth Grade must attend with an adult – Please register as one. You will be working on one pumpkin. The adult should be ready to assist the child.

Experience the excitement of creating a stunning carved pumpkin just like the ones featured at Halloween on Main! Local artist Jim Miller will guide participants through the process of transferring a design onto a pumpkin and carving it to create an eye-catching masterpiece with that signature Halloween glow.
Each participant will complete a beautifully carved pumpkin that will be displayed in Waupaca Town Square as part of Halloween on Main celebration.
Please Note: Due to the use of carving tools, this workshop is open only to participants in 4th grade and older. Be sure to follow the Arts Hub website and social media for additional Halloween-themed classes and family-friendly activities designed especially for younger children.

Never thrown pottery before? No big deal, we are going to teach you! This class is for EVERYONE ages 16+. Maybe you had a clay class in high school, or maybe you have always wanted to do this, but you did not know where to start? This is the place for you; we offer a welcoming learning environment for everyone!
This is an introductory 2-session class that will give you the chance to use a potter’s wheel while our instructor guides you through the process to make your very own unique piece or two.
In week one, we will teach you the basic techniques of centering and the building blocks for creating a wheel-thrown piece. Come ready to get a little dirty and have a good time; we like to laugh and have fun here!
The next week, you come back to put your own personal style on your piece by glazing it.
Class fee includes 1-2 pieces, glazing, and firing. Items will be ready for pickup in about 3-4 weeks (we email as soon as they are ready)
